For a craftsman his tools are very much important. Different craftsman make use of different tools in their workshop according to requirement of work. For example in just making a table for your drawing room or office dozens of tools are used. These may be manual tools or some kinds of complicated automatic tools like wood shaper, wood cutter and so on. Using and selecting manual tools like hammer and shaper is not a hard job. However, when it comes to use latest electric instruments and devices, special kind of skill and information is required to buy and use them. It is not simple to use them as it may result in some kind of mishap.

A wide range of automatic tools and instruments are available in the market. So it is quite difficult to select one that is best for your job. It also depends on certain other things like space where you want to install it. Sometimes you buy some electric wood cutter which is quite bit in size. Though it is efficient however, you cannot get maximum benefit of it if you do not have sufficient space in your workshop to keep or install it. Therefore, always try to study the feedback of the prospective tool before investing in it to get basic information about it.

One of the best ways to have basic information about different kinds of tools in the market is to consult your friends or those who have already used them. They will be in a position to tell you exact features of that specific tool and also you can get idea of how much space is requirement to get them installed in your workshop. Also you can read customers feedback which are available at different websites and I think this is the best source of useful information about any tool or instrument in the world.

The number one cause for damaged motherboards and/or CPUs is a faulty power supply. Several years ago my home PC’s power supply literally caught on fire. When the power supply went it took my motherboard and both hard drives with it. Needless to say I lost a lot of data I did not have backed up.

When customers bring in their PC’s to get repaired with the “I push the power button and nothing happens” symptom, it is all too evident what happened. Whether it was some kind of power surge or an internal fault with that power supply, it doesn’t matter, that PSU is toast. Now you need to figure out if the damage is limited to the power supply or if it took out other key components as well.

First thing, change the power supply. The PC will get power and the fans will spin, but will the motherboard POST? If it doesn’t you have to eliminate other components first. If you have two sticks of memory remove one stick at a time and attempt to start again. If it fails reinstall the one you removed and then remove the next one. If start up still fails remove both sticks of memory and install another stick that wasn’t in the PC originally. If that fails, then you can eliminate memory from being the problem.

Next thing to do is to reset the CMOS to default settings. This can be accomplished by a reset jumper on the motherboard. The jumper should be located very close to the CMOS battery. The battery is the size of a quarter. Close by you should see three pins with a jumper on two of those pins. To reset the CMOS, move the jumper over one slot. If you have difficulty with this, an alternate method is to just remove the battery itself for a minimum of one half hour. Please consult the motherboard’s manual for exact instructions. If you don’t have the manual, it can be found online with a little bit of research.

If the CMOS reset worked, GREAT! All you have to do is reset your clocks and you should be in business. If it did not work you can try disconnecting your hard drive and see if the motherboard will post. From experience, this is a long shot, but you must try it first. If you are still not having any luck, then either the Motherboard or the CPU or both are damaged.

Now there is no sure fire way of determining which of the two is bad without replacing one of them. The dangers of this is that if you guess CPU and it was the motherboard, when you replace the CPU with a new one you WILL most likely damage the new CPU. Therefore it is wise to replace them both. If you don’t, you could end up spending a lot more money than you originally planned.

Of course, now that you’ve changed the motherboard and CPU all the hardware is working, and you think that you are out of the woods. BUT, that is not the case. When you try to start Windows, 9 out of 10 times, the operating system will not load because of the new motherboard. If you replaced the motherboard with the exact same model, you probably won’t have this problem. If you replaced the motherboard with a different model then you have two options:

1. Try doing a repair installation of Windows. You will need the Windows disk to accomplish this.

2. If the above fails, then you will have to reformat your hard drive which means wipe everything off the drive and do a clean installation of Windows.

If you have valuable data on your drive that is NOT backed up, you are going to have to start looking at ways to retrieve that data BEFORE you reformat.

Good Luck!

A ball bearing is a type of rolling element bearing which employs balls to maintain separation between moving parts of a bearing. These ball bearings are used to reduce and minimalise the rotational friction and the axial and radial loads. Ball bearings achieve this by using at least two races, which contain the balls and transfer any loads through the balls. Sometimes one of the races is fixed into place.

As one of the races turns/rotates the balls rotate as well and because the balls are rolling they have a much lower coefficient of friction. It is the small surfaces of the balls between the races that allow them to have a lower load capacity for their size. The low cost of producing the ball bearing makes it less expensive than other types of bearing.

There are many different types of ball bearings mechanisms available for various applications and these can include:

o Aircraft bearing: A term generally applied to bearings used by the aircraft industry or the Air Force.
o Airframe bearing: A bearing designed for use in the control systems and surfaces of aircraft.
o Angular contact bearing: A type of ball bearing whose internal clearances and ball race locations as such as to result in a definite contact angle between the races and the balls when the bearing is used.
o Anti friction bearing: A commonly used term for rolling element bearing.
o Ball bearing: A bearing using balls as the rolling element.
o Ball cage: A device that partly surrounds the balls and travels with them.
o Ball complement: Number of balls used in a ball bearing.
o Cone: Inner ring of tapered roller bearing.
o Double row bearing: A bearing of two rolling elements.

Uses for ball bearings are vast and some typical applications can include:

o Automobile wheels
o Washing machine drum bearings
o Bicycle wheels
o Dental equipment
o Machine tools; drills, centre lathes, milling machines etc.

Other types of bearings have also been developed such as fluid bearings. These fluid bearings do not use steel balls like the more conventional ball bearing, but instead support the bearings load on a thin layer of liquid or gas. This type of bearing is generally used in computer hard drives.

Other fluid bearings include; foil bearings, Air bearings, and journal bearings.

Metal shelves can be a great storage option. They are sturdy enough to withstand the weight of heavy items, and are often cheaper than wood. They are also very durable and can give a contemporary look. Moreover, they are easy to care for, easy to assemble, and can be placed just about anywhere. But choosing metal shelving can be overwhelming if you don’t understand your options. As a result, some people may avoid it altogether. But if they ask themselves a few questions, the decision can become much easier.

First, where and how will your shelving be used? In a warehouse situation, you need shelves with a larger capacity, more durability, and the ability to withstand more weight. Home shelving, on the other hand, is much less likely to carry a heavy load. As a result, it can be lighter and cheaper. In addition, it will probably not be exposed to chemicals, so it doesn’t need to be able to withstand corrosion. In a retail situation, the type of shelving needed will depend on what the shelves will hold and the size of the store. A person should keep this in mind when choosing metal shelving.

Second, a person should ask themselves whether the shelves will be on display or stored out of sight. In a storage situation, a person should pay attention to the strength and durability of the shelves. They should also think about whether it resists corrosion and dust. One good option for this situation is wire shelving. It gives items a lot of ventilation, does not accumulate much dust, and is lightweight yet sturdy. However, if a person is going to display the items on their shelves, they will probably be more concerned with appearance than strength.

The third question to ask is how much destruction your shelves are likely to encounter. If the shelves are not likely to be maintained regularly, you will want a finish that is long-lasting, and if they may be knocked around frequently or exposed to chemicals you will want something very sturdy. Finally, think about whether ventilation is an issue. For items that need air circulation, you may want to consider shelving with an open back or purchasing wire shelving. If, however, they don’t need the ventilation, your needs may be better served with solid shelves or shelves with a back. If you take these four things into consideration, choosing metal shelving should be a simple process.

Roof Tiling Materials

Tiles are man made materials, which are made from hard wearing materials such as clay, ceramic materials and sometimes they can even be made out of glass! This said, by far the most common material used to make roofing tiles is clay. Invariably roofing tiles made this way out of clay have to be treated with a weather resistant glazing coat.

People have been using tiles to build their roofs for hundreds of years and over this time people have designed many different shapes and sizes of tiles. Flat tiles for example are just about the most basic type of roof tile. They are more often than not flat and rectangular in shape which makes them ideal for layering on a roof. Flat roofing tiles are very, very common in roofing applications and the methods used for creating these types of roofs have not changed a great deal since the 1970’s!

Other types of tiles are roman tiles and single lap tiles. Roman tiles have a curve at one edge and another at the other edge; this allows them to interlock for additional strength when they are laid on a roof. Single lap tiles are shaped like the letter s and when they are laid they give a very distinct pattern.

Slate Roofing Materials

Slate roofs are done with roofing tiles made from slate which is an ancient sedimentary rock made up mainly from of clay and other volcanic materials, and compounded in the earth by pressure and heat.

Slate is a very common roofing material because it is very strong and also waterproof. It is very popular because it can be easily shaped into the rectangles that we see on the roofs of today. During the manufacture of roofing slates, big pieces of slate rock are broken into small sheets quite easily. Again this makes slate an ideal material for roofing.

Slate roofs can last a very long time because slate is a very hardwearing material the disadvantage of slate as a roofing material is that it is very expensive to buy and replace. In some areas roofs have to be kept maintained with specific types of slate in order to satisfy planning laws and keep the architectural character of buildings uniform in certain areas. Finding specific types of slate in such cases can be very difficult and there are few roofing contractors which undertake this kind of work.

Felt Roofing Materials

Roofing contractors use strong, polyurethane type materials to form felt roofs. A felt roof is applied to a base board which is painted with a preservative coating to make it last longer. Once the base has been prepared the roofing felt is fixed in place using suitable galvanised nails. Felt roofing applications are usually for flat roofs such as those normally seen on garages and garden sheds. The obvious advantage of using felt as a roofing material on flat roofs is that it is very inexpensive and therefore commonly used as a budget roofing solution on outbuildings.

Hudon Maintenance is a reputable roofing company Wakefield and roofing company Leeds in the Yorkshire area. As well as domestic roofing services Hudson maintenance provides industrial roofing contractor services throughout the UK.

Packaging is the third largest industry in America valued at $110 billion per annum. It is estimated that there are 350 billion packages which comprise of the tiniest item in pharmaceuticals to supersacks used that are used to carry thousands of pounds of content and which can withstand rigorous transport.

Product Packaging Design

Consider what product packaging design does to your product:

Most importantly, packaging identifies your brand.
Packaging communicates with the consumer and presents an image, displays the product and also provides instructions for its use.
Packaging distinguishes your product from your competitor’s in its design, color, and shape.
Packaging is your product’s promotional advertisement. It is the last thing the consumer sees about your product before making a decision to purchase it.

To see how important product label design is, take the case of DermaQuest which produces a line of skincare products. Although their products are of high quality, their initial packaging was not impressive and did not say much about their product. After working with a team of professional designers and branding houses their skincare products were given a totally new makeover. Allyson Rogers, director of education at DermaQuest said, “It’s made a huge difference. It’s helped us get into new doors that we weren’t in before. This is something that appeals to doctors. It’s clean, scientific and elegant-looking.” The new look resulted in doubling their sales.Generally packaging works out to 10% of the retail cost of a product. However this margin would go up or down considering the product you are selling. Cosmetic and electronic manufacturers may spend up to 40% or more of the product cost on packaging, as would gift items. An attractively packaged product makes all the difference at the point of sale. The extra care and cost required to produce an attractive package are more than covered through increase in sales. Sanjay Sood, associate professor of marketing at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management said, “Packaging may provide consumers with some sort of interest or incentive that can help get customers to try it, but for repeat buys, that’s where the product will live or die on its own.” There is a psychology to a consumer’s selection of a product and it depends on product design and packaging.

Points to Consider in Product Label Design:

Packaging should be functional. It should protect your product against any kind of damage or deterioration.
It should also be able to withstand transport and shipping.
It should be environmentally friendly
It should be easy to open and the product easy to use.
It should be tamper proof.
Packaging should have consumer appeal, a distinctiveness that makes your product stand out against a hundred other products on the shelf.
Packaging, labeling and any additional information should be designed keeping in mind the profile of your target consumer. Understand your market and target them specifically. Packaging for a generic audience can confuse the consumer.
Packaging should help build your brand image. It’s about communicating your product and building a relationship with your consumers through your brand image
Packaging should stand out against your competitor’s products.

Product Label Design: Health Supplements

Labeling on health supplements is important. Labels on the package should contain Supplement Facts about the ingredients and their nutritive value and comply with other FDA guidelines regarding dietary supplements.
Additional information on the package on how the product works could provide the consumer incentive information that will help the consumer to make an educated decision over your competitor’s products.
Promotional leaflets inside the packaging can help consumers to be more aware of the product and how it beneficially impacts the consumer’s health. This can build credibility and trust. These leaflets can also be used to introduce other products in your line of production.
Adding one or more health claims on health products could boost your sales by 20%. This was the conclusion of an online study conducted by National Starch. Consumer perception was tested for leading brands of bread, nutrition bars and cereals. It was found that consumers began placing a higher value on these products when the packaging was altered to include additional health claims such as: “increases dietary fiber inake”, “promotes a healthy digestive system”, “helps to control blood sugar highs,” “provides a balance of energy” and “delivers prebiotic properties.”

Packaging trends are changing constantly. There are new innovations all the time. Keeping abreast of packaging and label trends will give your products a competitive edge.

Plastic grocery bags are simple plastic bags, with no zippers or clasps, having two handles. These bags are very common all over the world, perhaps the most common kinds of plastic bags. They are also considered to be one of the most useful kinds. Plastic grocery bags are those bags which are supplied by grocery stores to place the groceries in, when the customer is making his/her purchases. They facilitate easy carrying of groceries and make packaging easy for the grocery store. They also keep the groceries fresh and free from harmful agents.

There are specific types of grocery bags used for different items. So there are different plastic grocery bags for vegetables, fruits, meats, herbs and other groceries. These grocery bags are sold in bulk, generally in packs of hundred. They are very nominally priced and are available in a variety of colors and sizes. They can be reused again and again, but only for a limited period of time. This is primarily due to the plastic material from which they are made cannot handle much weight and tears off very easily.

Since these bags are given away for free, plastic grocery bags are generally made of very low quality plastic so that the nominal price can be maintained. Another reason why they cannot be used for a very long time is due to the fact that they retain pungent odors or any residue that the groceries once kept in it, may have left. This affects the freshness of the other items which are kept later in the bag and they may get spoiled. Nevertheless, due to the low prices of these bags, they can be thrown away after using a couple of times and new bags can be brought at regular intervals.

Ever since Henry Ford introduced the conveyor system to produce the Model T, these systems have gained popularity as the can reduce cost and increase safety in almost any manufacturing environment. Conveyor system manufacturing allows machinery to transport parts that might cause injury to workers. The allow machines to do work that people would find repetitive or hard work with little effort.

By the ’50s conveyor systems had moved their way to the food manufacturing business as evidenced when Lucy and Ethel went to work in the chocolate factory packaging chocolates.

A favorite example of a conveyor system that saves its owners money and improves the safety for workers is found in the donut chain. This system extrudes donuts from the dough and drops them into the fat to fry. The flow down the little fat river and are flipped at precisely the correct time. They continue to move on down that little river and are picked up by a metal conveyor belt when the cooking is done. This metal conveyor causes them to pass through a blanket of frosting and moves them on down the line to be packaged by the worker.

The system addresses three problems. Without the system, there would need to be a person at several stations along the line. The person shaping the donuts, the person dropping the donuts into the fat, a person to flip the donuts, another to lift them out of the fat, someone to frost the donuts and then the person to package them would all be required. Instead it only takes the one person to package those donuts.

Conveyor systems are used in many other ways in the food industry. They can be used in preparing and packaging foods or in moving foods through ovens in order to cook the food to perfection. Drink manufacturers use the machines for bottling the drinks. Snack food manufacturers use them to cook and package foods.

In heavier industries, such as the automotive industry, heavy parts can be safely moved from one work station to another. Without the conveyor system, moving these parts might involve several workers that could possibly be injured at each step of the way. Once parts are painted, they can be moved through high temperature ovens and cooling without the threat of the heat burning a human.

In multi-level manufacturing plants, conveyor systems can be used to move parts from one floor to another and save the time that would be associated with moving them from the first level to an elevator and then back to the new workstation. The part is moved upstairs in just a few minutes rather than half an hour.

Conveyor manufacturing systems are much safer than using forklifts or almost any other method of moving parts from one place to another.

If you are a manufacturing business looking to increase worker safety and increase production, you too should consider what Henry Ford did almost a hundred years ago. Install the conveyor system designed for your business and you can improve the safety of your workers and the production of your company.
